Just weeks after he merged SDT Waste and Debris with national waste provider Progressive Waste Solutions, New Orleans businessman Sidney D. Torres IV has started a private investment firm, IV Capital. Sidney Torres IV has started a private investment firm and says he intends to invest $10 million in Louisiana and along the Gulf.

The new firm, IV Capital, cites experience in business services, hospitality, energy, real estate, niche manufacturing, commercial transportation and aviation among other areas.

In a statement, Torres said his own challenges in founding SDT Waste and Debris led him to establish his investment firm.

“I found it very difficult to obtain short- and long-term operating capital and my experience was common to many private businesses in this region,” Torres said.

IV Capital also announced it will close its first deal Friday with restaurateur Hicham Khodor, who owns Camellia Grill and Gumbo Shop and is co-owner of Byblos and NOLA restaurant.
